About: The Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park has miles of forested trails perfect for hiking, two fishing lakes, and sits adjacent to Kings Mountain National Military Park. The park has a replica 1800s "Living History" Piedmont farm. The Kings Mountain Hiking Trail is a 16-mile trail that loops around the outer edges of the two parks.

The battle of Kings Mountain, fought October 7th, 1780, was an important American victory during the Revolutionary War. The battle was the first major patriot victory to occur after the British invasion of Charleston, SC in May 1780. Kings Mountain Military Park preserves the site of this important battle.

Behind the visitor center of Kings Mountain Military Park is the Battlefield Trail, a paved 1.5-mile loop trail.

Location: Follow I-85 north into North Carolina. Take exit 2 and follow Highway 216 into South Carolina reaching the entrance to Kings Mountain Military Park after 2.4 miles. Continue on Highway 216 into the park to reach the visitor center after 1.7 miles. From the visitor center is access to the state park.

Hours: Kings Mountain Military Park is open daily from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Kings Mountain State Park is open daily from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm in winter and 8:00 am to 9:00 pm in the summer. Admission to the state park is $2 for adults.
