About: Along the far-reaching stretch of Grand Strand coastline, Myrtle Beach State Park sits nestled among oceanfront maritime forest. A quiet, and surprisingly green, escape from the otherwise bustling beach, the park provides educational opportunities, a nature trail, and stunning ocean views. A fishing pier extending over 500 feet into the Atlantic Ocean provides views of shore birds.
The maritime forest includes live oak and southern magnolias. Other unique features include sea oats located on the dunes and an expansive sand dunes system along the beach. Unique wildlife includes nesting loggerhead sea turtles, bald eagles, least terns and various neo-tropical migrant birds. At the park you can see the atamasco lily in season, and the diversity of maritime grassland flora during the fall months is spectacular.
