About: The Edwin M. Griffin Nature Preserve is a 115-acre urban forest and nature trail system near downtown Spartanburg. This 115-acre urban forest protects 2.4 miles of riparian buffer along Lawson's Fork Creek, holds nearly 5 miles of nature trails, and provides habitat for a rich variety of local plants and wildlife.

This is also called the Cottonwood Trail Preserve. Located minutes from downtown Spartanburg, the property protects a 1.5 mile stretch of Lawson’s Fork Creek and several feeder streams. The preserve serves as an important water quality buffer in a fast-growing region and provides habitat for a myriad of plants and animals.

Open: Dawn to Dusk, year-round.

Location: From exit 21 on I-26 drive east on US 29. After 6.3 miles turn right on Fernwood Drive for 0.9 miles and turn left onto Beechwood Drive (go past the turn to Beechwood Drive at 0.4 miles). In 0.1 miles will be the parking lot.
